Topics and speakers include: Research Integrity - Nick Steneck; Regulatory issues related to clinical research (i.e., IRB regs, PHI, HIPPA related to research) - June Insco, Jan Hewett; Informed Consent – June Insco, Jan Hewett; Good Clinical Practices (GCP, best practices, IND/IDE, highlight of UM resources to facilitate best practices) – Lynda Welage, Kevin Weatherwax, Shari Barnett; Conflict of interest – Ray Hutchinson; Clinical Research Billing – Sam Silver; and DRDA – Elaine Brock.

| MICHR K Award Writing Workshop

This three part workshop is designed to assist junior faculty and fellows in preparing competitive career development grant applications to the NIH or other funders. Junior faculty and fellows who intend to submit a K award in February or June will receive structured peer critique of their specific aims, personal statements, career development segments as well as feedback from senior faculty experienced in NIH study section thinking. The small group sessions will allow in-depth discussions on topics ranging from the purpose of a K Award, to how to highlight your plans for future independent research. Those who register are expected to attend ALL THREE segments which will be held in Danto Auditorium of the Cardiovascular Center. *Attendance is limited. **The three dates are 12/2, 12/16 and 1/6 (when you register for the first session, you are automatic registered for the rest). ***Mentors will be invited to participate in the final session 1/6 ****Those who register need to have either a February or June, 2010 due date for their proposal. *****Please bring the draft proposal you have in progress. ******If you have questions regarding this session, please contact Lise Anderson at lisand@umich.edu or 998-7212.
